Love a Tree Day - Lovely As A Tree!

In honor of Love a Tree Day (today, May 16th) - I thought I would share a project created with Stampin' Up!'s Lovely As A Tree stamp set! 

 

The colors are Always Artichoke, Bashful Blue, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Old Olive.  The top Early Espresso panel has the woodgrain texture from the Woodgrain Embossing Folder.  A bit of Linen Thread is wrapped around for fun.

 

 

The Lovely As A Tree stamp set is so beautiful and is a classic for sure.  First released in 2001, this stamp set is a great choice for masculine cards.  You just can't beat great lines!

And, it will be back in the NEW 2013-2014 Annual Stampin' Up! Catalog!  Yep, it continues to be a favorite!

Technique - Textured Glimmer Paper

Have you ever tried Textured Glimmer Paper on your projects?  Now, I know Stampin' Up!'s Glimmer Paper is beautiful all on it's own.  But, when you run it through the Big Shot with one of our Textured Impressions Embossing Folders - WOW!  It adds a whole new dimension.

 

This Champagne Glimmer Paper has the the Elegant Lines texture added.  So pretty though, I know the photo just can't do it justice.

 

This Bordering on Romance card has Silver Glimmer Paper that has the Square Lattice Texture added.

Icy Inker Creations

This week was my Icy Inker team meeting.  I thought you would like to see some of the swap cards from my talented team.

 

This bright and cheery card, created by Pam Hirschberg, features the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper in the Spring Catalog.

 

Deb Wayne also used the Sunshine & Sprinkles Designer Series Paper.  But, she used the umbrella pattern and paired it with butterflies!  Fun.

 

Line Critchfield created this bold and fun card.  Each card stock strip is embossed using the Chevron Embossing Folder.  Super cute!

 

Just love Swallowtail butterfly card created by Kendra Wahl.  Kendra stamped stamped the image with bleach on Melon Mambo card stock.  The splatter you see is Smooch Spritz and it is so pretty!

 

Anita Pirkle used the Inlaid Embossing technique on her creation.  Anita adhered card stock circle punches to the Whisper White card stock and then ran it through the Big Shot with Argyle Embossing Folder.  Cool!

 

Chris Occhipinti created this fun and trendy card using the Epic Day Designer Series Paper and Washi Tape.  You will see these products again in the new 2013-2014 Annual Catalog!  However, her greeting is from the Word Play stamp set and it will be retiring on May 30th!!  Great card Chris.

Morning Cup....Is It Going?

Inspired by coffee??  Yes, I think so!  This card is created using the Morning Cup stamp set and was inspired by these Hawaiian K Cups. 

Loved the colors: Cajun Craze, Calypso Coral and Chocolate Chip.

The mug and steam images are stamped on Watercolor Paper using StazOn Jet Black Ink and water-colored using Ink Pads and AquaPainters.  The Square Lattice Texture, Paper Piercing around the Chocolate Chip circle and Natural Trim Ribbon all felt like "coffee" to me.  What do you think?

I love all the fun images in the Morning Cup stamp set.  But....will it be one of the stamp sets retiring in May?  I don't know!!  What do you think??

Here is fun and fussy banner card for you today!  It features the Hearts a Flutter Framelits and our Print Poetry Designer Series Paper!!  Gotta love the In Colors: Midnight Muse and Gumball Green!

 

Lots of fun details.  What the scoop?  From left to right:

• Midnight Muse banner (hand cut, wanted it a bit longer than the Framelit) with a banner cut layer of stamped Natural Cotton Ribbon over the top.  A Itty Bitty Shape flower punch on top with a small Pearl Jewel embellishment
• Small banner of Gumball Green Stitched Satin Ribbon
• Rounded Die Cut Banner with a Small Heart Punch popped up on top with Stampin' Dimensionals.
• Midnight Muse Stitched Satin Ribbon Banner
• Floral patterned Gumball Green die cut banner with a Itty Bitty Shapes flower punched out and a Pearl Jewel in the center.

 

And those greeting and splatter images....where did they come from?? 

 

They were the stamp set included in my first Paper Pumpkin project kit!!

 

All the goodies you see there came last month in a pre-cut project kit.  In 10 minutes I had four completed cards and envelopes with an acrylic block, stamp set and ink spot to use in the future - Love it!!  Can't wait to see what is in my Paper Pumpkin kit this month!!

My Favorite Stampin' Up! Tool

Since today is Worship of Tools Day, I thought I would share with you my favorite Stampin' Up! tool - the Big Shot!!  Now, I don't actually worship this tool, but I use it all the time! 

From die cutting stamped images and shapes to adding texture and making boxes, the Big Shot makes you look like a pro!  I had a chance to sit with a client last week and show her all the things the Big Shot can do and she immediately fell in love.  She already knew she was going to purchase a Big Shot but was thrilled to see all she could create with it.

Here is a super cute and easy treat box created using the Mini Milk Carton Die and the Big Shot.  I love the box dies!  No need to trace and cut out a pattern!

How to Create An Electric Tealight Cupcake

Want a cute birthday idea - create a cupcake from an electric tealight!  My Divas created these projects last quarter and I want to show you how to make your own!

How To Crete An Electric Tealight Cupake:

1. Adhere a strip of Designer Series Paper around tealight base.  My piece measures 3/4" x 5 1/2" but tealight sizes may vary.
2. Punch two 1 3/4" Scallop Circles of Whisper White card stock.
3. Fold one of the Scallop Circles into quarters and snip of the tip in the center.

4. Lay this template on top of your second Whisper White Scallop Circle Punch and mark the center.

 

5.  Using an hobby blade and protective mat, cut 4 lines through center of Scallop Circle Punch.

 

6.  Embellish as desired and slide over the top of your tealight "flame".  Adhere using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  Fold edges down over the side.

 

This cupcake was coated with 2 Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds Stampin' Glitter.  Then embellished with punched shaped from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and Pearl Jewels.

These Tealight Cupcakes are fun and easy to create.  They make a great addition to any birthday gift or birthday party!  Make one yourself today!

Valentine Cards for the Men in My Life

Happy Valentine's Day again!!  I thought I would share the cards that I created for the men in my life.  Uh....this morning at 5am!

 

This is my husband, Bret's, card.  A layer of Crumb Cake card stock with the Woodgrain texture adhered to a Crumb Cake card base and embellished with two Silver Brads.  The "XO" are die cut using the Typeset Alphabet Bigz Die.  A "popped" Real Red Small Heart Punch sets off the sentiment.  Clean and Simple.

 

This is the man I love and has been my Valentine for the last 18 years! 

 

The three are for my boys: Hunter, Zach and Wyatt.  Trying to keep the "fluff" to a minimum.  Don't want to lose my "cool" factor.

Stampin' Up! Tool Tip: How to Stamp a Clean Image Using a Large Stamp

Do you ever have problems with a larger image not stamping completely in the center? Whether its an image like this chevron oval from the Oh, Hello stamp set or one of Stampin' Up!'s large image stamps (pgs. 128-129 Annual Catalog) - you may be asking "How do I stamp a clean, complete large image?"

The answer?  Grab your Stampin' Pierce Mat! 

Though the Stampin' Pierce Mat is originally intended to work with our Paper Piercing Packs and the Paper Piercing technique -  it is also a great help when stamping.

How To Stamp a Clean Image Using a Large Stamp:

Place your card stock on top of the Stampin' Pierce Mat and stamp.  The foam mat will allow your card stock "to give" to your rubber stamp.  This will encourage the two to "meet in the middle" and you will end up with a complete and clean large image!  Woot!

An additional benefit to using the Stampin' Up! Stampin' Pierce Mat when you stamp - it allows you to achieve your stamped image using less pressure.  A few of my clients use a Stampin' Pierce Mat when stamping due to arthritis or lack of hand strength.

 

 

My club members appreciated being reminded of this tip when they were creating this card during their February club class.

The colors are (top to bottom): Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party and Island Indigo.  Coordinating Baker's Twine set off the three hearts that were stamped using the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and die cut with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits.  They are "popped" with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The "Love You" greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  I inked it using a marker so that I omitted the frame.

Vintage Verses and The Chalkboard Technique - The Perfect Match

The Chalkboard Technique is HOT - HOT - HOT and Stampin' Up!'s Vintage Verses Sale-a-Bration stamp set is a perfect choice for this great technique!

Chalkboard Technique Instructions:

1. Rub Embossing Buddy over your Basic Black card stock to eliminate static.  This will prevent your Stampin' Emboss Powder from clinging to anything but your stamped image.
2. Heat Emboss image in White using your choice of products:  VersaMark Pad or Whisper White Craft Ink plus Clear or White Stampin' Emboss Powder.  Personally - I use White Craft Ink and White Powder for the most dramatic effect.
3. To give the appearance of chalk dust, if desired, lightly sponge, using Stamping Sponges, Whisper White Craft ink around your heat embossed image.
4. That's the Chalkboard Technique!!
