Hearts a Flutter K.I.S.S.

Welcome to Keep It Simple Saturday (K.I.S.S.) which features the Hearts a Flutter stamp set!  Super clean and simple today!

The colors are (top to bottom): Wisteria Wonder, Pool Party and Island Indigo.  Coordinating Baker's Twine set off the three hearts that were stamped using the Hearts a Flutter stamp set and die cut with the Hearts a Flutter Framelits.  They are "popped" with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The "Love You" greeting comes from the Itty Bitty Banners stamp set.  I inked it using a marker so that I omitted the frame.

Marriage is Uncharted Territory!

 

This is the anniversary card I made for my hubby, Bret.  Today we celebrate 15 years of marriage! 

The card features the retiring stamp set, Uncharted Territory.  I love this stamp set and am so sorry to see it go!  I love lighthouses.

The card First Edition Designer Series Paper, crimped Baja Breeze and focal image are all distressed using the retiring Distressing Essentials Kit.

I got the idea for this card from Cibele Glazer.

This page was created in My Digital Studio using photos of my nephew Ben and new niece Laura's wedding. The swirl stamp image comes from the Simple Friendship stamp brush set.  The traditional Simple Friendship stamp set is retiring but it will be here forever in its digital form - Woot!

This card came from a morning of no MOJO - Just could not get my creative juices flowing. 

How did I start?  First I took my dogs for a walk and then I found the Color Combination Challenge on Splitcoast (CC329) of Soft Suede, Melon Mambo and Crumb Cake.  Color and sketch challenges are a good way to get started.  I grabbed the first stamp set I saw on my stamp counter and here we are.  A touch of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter was added to the center of the flowers using the 2-Way Glue Pen.

National Pink Day - Wedding Card

Today is National Pink Day!  Woot!

Now, years ago, I might have thought "Ugh"!  I really didn't enjoy the color pink.  But, I have come to embrace my "girlieness" and the color pink!

Clean and Simple Wedding Sweet

It is definitely the season of weddings for our family.  This is a card that I made for a wedding that we attended yesterday for a family friend.  I don't know about you, but I often create a wedding card using the wedding invitation as inspiration (on right in photo).  The printed vellum overlay on the invitation was over the invitation text.  Loved the simplicity.

With my version, the stamped images come from the Wedding Sweet stamp set and the greeting from the Heard From The Heart set.  The vellum, punched with the Scallop Edge Punch, goes over both the front and back of the card with a bit of 1/8" Very Vanilla Taffeta Ribbon to set off the top.  That's it.

Best Wishes - Rock and Roll Technique

Hola!

This bright and fun wedding card is for my niece Shannon and her new husband Pablo.   I am currently in Cabo, Mexico attending their destination wedding on the beach!  Woot!  *Pictures to come*

To create the multi-colored flower stamped images, I used the Rock and Roll Technique:

1. Choose two coordinating Classic Ink Colors
2. Ink stamp image completely in lighter color first (Tip:  Always use your lightest color ink first to avoid getting dark in on your light ink pad.)
3. Go directly to the darker ink color and roll just the edges of the image around.
4. Stamp.  Clean your stamp before you ink it up again.

On these flowers I stamped the image twice before inking up again to create a bit of depth.

The little flower is one of Stampin' Up!'s Paper Daisies, the smallest size, that I water-colored using Aqua Painters and Classic Ink.  A half pearl sets off the center.

I created their wedding card after their wedding invitation: gate fold, colors and a ribbon tie closure.

The Rock and Roll Technique is a fun and easy one to create stunning projects.

Faux Mother Of Pearl Technique

At my club class this month, I taught my members how to do the Faux Mother Of Pearl Technique.  It's not new, but it is beautiful every time!! 

How is it done?

For this card, I die cut the flower layers in Whisper White card stock using the Fun Flowers Die. 

Faux Mother Of Pearl Technique:

1. Wad up a piece of plastic wrap (the kind that you seal food up with) and dip it into Frost White Shimmer Paint.  You don't need much at all.
2. Pounce a thin layer of Shimmer Paint over your card stock (can be Whisper White or Glossy White).  Be sure to leave some white space.  Allow to dry.
3. Sponge or brayer your chosen color of Classic Ink over the top.  The area with the Shimmer Paint will resist the ink. 
4. Once covered with desired depth of color, take a paper towel and buff off surface to reveal the beauty of your Mother Of Pearl (Shimmer Paint).

Very easy and produces great results!

Great Wedding Colors and Coordination!

Last week, I was blessed to travel to my hometown of Eureka, CA to celebrate the wedding of my niece, Jammie to her husband, Kameron.  It was a wonderful weekend with my large and loud family.

Jammie and Kameron's colors were black, white and green  - a fun combo.  You can see the wedding card that I made them in THIS POST.

One of the fun things that Jammie and Kameron had at their wedding was a candy bar.  Each guest had an empty box at their place to take and fill.  As you can see, all of the candy coordinated with the wedding colors!  So cool and classy!

Speaking of coordinating, this is a photo of me with my siblings - my brother is the father of the bride.  Can you believe that we all wore black and white?!  A complete coincidence.  Great minds think alike I guess.

So, let's talk wedding colors.

My Man's Valentine Card!

Happy Valentine's Day To You!

This is my husband, Bret's, Valentine's Day card.  It sure is challenging to make a love-themed card look "manly".  Not sure if I succeeded on this one or not.

I have a few rules when I make a masculine card:

--no ribbon

--no buttons

Just my personal preference.  But I broke the rules on this card - Basic Black Satin Ribbon.  I figured it's just a strip, it's black and there are no knots or bows.  And "no glitter" on a masculine card goes without saying - but I put Glimmer Paper on this!  Just tiny heart punches.  Eek!

The layout comes from the Mojo Monday Sketch 178.

Classy Medallion Valentine

One Of My New Catalog "Must Have's"!

When I saw our new Two-Step Owl Extra-Large Punch in the new catalog - I KNEW I HAD TO HAVE IT!  I knew it would create cute projects but can I just tell you how much fun I had creating this little owl "couple" yesterday!  TOO MUCH FUN!

Now, I wasn't a huge fan of paper dolls when I was a girl but I am definitely a fan of paper punched owls.

I created a little couple and paired them with the "Congratulations on finding each other" sentiment from the new stamp set - A Word For You. 

This punch is so easy to create with - I know you will love it. 

Tip for the tiny pupil punch pieces:  I suggest using a toothpick to apply our Tombo Multipurpose Adhesive and a different toothpick to pick it up those pieces (poke them) and adhere them to the layered eyes.

My friend Denise was here yesterday while I was making this card and she had a great suggestion.  Punch another owl in black, cut off it's feet and use them for eyelashes on the girl!  How "stinkin' cute" is that?  Can you see those?

Happiness Today & Always

I made this card for my niece's wedding that I attended last Friday.  Congratulations to Jennifer and Greg!

Anytime I go to a wedding or birthday party, I try to coordinate my card with the colors or theme of the event.  My niece's colors were guava and a sage green along with black and white.  Her invitations had a black and white baroque pattern to them as well.  So, this is what I came with. 

I started with a Shimmery White card base and layered on a piece of our fabulous Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper that I had brayered with Basic Black Classic Ink.  I added some "glitz" with your Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz.  Pretty!

The Presto Patterns paper has a smooth white finish and the images you see are clear embossed.  So, when you apply ink to this great paper, your embossed images remain white and the rest of the paper takes the color.

The greeting is from our Heard From The Heart Stamp Set and is stamped on another piece of Shimmery White card stock in Basic Black Classic Ink.  I layered it onto Basic Black card stock and then to Groovy Guava (retired) card stock which both has been spritzed with Smooch Spritz.  Two Clear Rhinestone Brads were added before I adhered the greeting panel to the card.

It was a fun card to make and I hope Jennifer and Greg liked it.  I am making them a wedding scrapbook for their present.  That is next.

Stylish Smoochin'

How did I get that title?  Well, this card features our new stamp set - Elements of Style and I have added our fabulous new Smooch Spritz to it as well!

The original idea for this card comes from Mindy Bingamon with a little "tweaking" from me.

I love this new stamp set - it is so classy and vintage.  You can stamp this floral image and color it in or simply leave it "as is".  It is  pretty enough to stand on it's own. 

Here you can see the Smooch Spritz - Log Cabin up close.  What is Smooch Spritz?  It is a pearlized  accent spray that adds a great touch of color and texture to your project.  You can either add a spritz like I did hear or cover your project with thin layers of color.  There is a bit of a learning curve to Smooch Spritz - but once you "get the hang of it" - it is too much fun.

How to Make Paper Lace:

1.  Punch a strip of 1" Very Vanilla Card stock with our Eyelet Border Punch down one side.

2.  Adhere a piece of Sticky Strip on the card where I wanted the paper lace.

3.  Accordion fold the punched strip on Sticky Strip in a haphazard way. 

4. Tie ribbon to cover the top edge of lace.

To My Man...

Yesterday was my husband and my 13th wedding anniversary.  I have to say that he made me a hand stamped card and had it ready to give me before I had his ready.  Uugh!  But, what a guy!

This was the card that I gave to him.  I have a rule when I make a masculine card - no ribbon.  The closest thing you will find to ribbon on this card is our Twill Tape that runs across the center of the card.

The tree, from the Lovely As A Tree set, is done with the Emboss Resist technique.  I stamped the tree in VersaMark Ink on Very Vanilla card stock and heat embossed it with Clear Embossing Powder.  Then I burnished (swirl around a Stamping Sponge) it with Really Rust Classic Ink.  The embossed image resists the ink.

The Creamy Caramel panel up top has the wood-grain texture applied to it with the Big Shot and the wood-grain texture plate.  Remember, Creamy Caramel and Really Rust are two of our Retiring Colors!  I am really going to miss those colors.  For a full list of retiring colors - CLICK HERE.

Whimsical Happiness (SDC74/CC226)

Here is a project made with a Sale-a-Bration stamp set - Whimsical Words.  I love how clean and crisp the images in this stamp set stamp.

This card was created by combining two SUDSOL challenges.  The first one is a color challenge (SDC74) to use Rich Razzleberry as your primary color with only one other color (Basic Black for me) and a white or vanilla.  I love Rich Razzleberry - so I had to play along.  The second challenge was a sketch challenge (CC226).

I had been practicing with our new Scallop Trim Border/Corner punches last week so I had this piece of Basic Black sitting on my counter.  I figured it fit with the sketch so that is where I started.  I just love the effect these new punches add to a project!  You can purchase the Scallop Trim Corner Punch in the Occasions Mini Catalog and the Scallop Trim Border Punch you can receive FREE as a Sale-a-Bration reward with a $50 purchase.

Trying to keep Rich Razzleberry the focus, I simply embossed the large piece with our Big Shot and Finial Press Embossing Folder to add some dimension.

The greeting/border punch piece is "popped" with Stampin' Dimensionals so that it clears the Rich Razzleberry Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.

Congratulations Always (WSC81)

Happy Monday Morning!  This is a card that I made for a bridal shower shower that I went to on Saturday.

I am still missing my MOJO so I went with the Weekend Sketch Challenge (wsc81) and Lyndsey's (the bride's) wedding colors: Sage Shadow, Basic Black and Silver.  OK, so she didn't specifically pick Stampin' Up! colors but I converted them!  I was hoping to do a more springy/showery/Soft Subtles card but I came up with this more formal wedding looking card instead.  Again-my MOJO is missing!  I do like how it turned out though.

Black, White and Bling - SDC 38

 Here is one of the new Sale-A-Bration stamp sets - Polka Dot Punches!  I was able to pre-order this set as a demonstrator last month.  Woo Hoo, love getting new stuff early!  I picked it because it is a little different than my normal style.

I made this card for a black and white challenge (SDC33) over at SUDSOL.  I was getting ready to watch a movie on Saturday night and I was actually possessed to get back up and come in and make this card.  This was a good kind of possessed.  ;0)

I knew that black and white was going to be very simplistic so I thought I would add a little "bling".  I don't think that was against the challenge rules.  I originally used Whisper White card stockbut it looked a little flat.  It needed more bling - Shimmery White card stock!  Love it.

I stamped the Polka Dot background stamp in Craft White Ink and heat embossed it with our Iridescent Ice embossing powder.  The heart and the greeting are stamped in Craft Basic Black ink and embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder as well.  I loved the sparkle it added.

I finished it off with some Clear Rhinestone Brads-bling again!  Did you see that these brads are now sold separately?!  Woo Hoo!

Now I just need someone to have another black and white wedding and I'm all set!
