Good News!

Today I really wanted to share some good news and this is the best news of all!

HE IS RISEN!!

It seems that family and friends all around me are dealing with very difficult circumstances and my heart has been very heavy this week.  I had to remind myself this morning to Rejoice in the Lord because he knows every detail of every one of these situations.  I am very thankful to serve the Living God!

This card uses the Clean and Simple Stamping Blogs Fall To Layout #184:

This is a great layout for using up Designer Series Paper pieces.  I used the beautiful, vintage-themed Attic Boutique Designer Series Paper for this card.  The focal element is the Easter Dove stamp which has been heat embossed.  Both the Designer Series Paper and the Easter Dove stamp can be found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

Heat Embossing Tip:

• Create your own Craft Pad - if you don't have the correct Craft Stampin' Pad color for your project - create your own!  Simply ink your image in VersaMark Ink first, then add the Classic Ink Color of your choice and stamp your image.  Cover with Clear Stampin' Emboss Power and Heat.  For this card I inked up my "He Is Risen" image with VersaMark Ink and then Soft Suede Classic Ink - then I stamped and heat embossed it.
• Emboss A Small/Open Area - On this card the inside of the dove is Heat Embossed by using the VersaMarker pen and White Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Gnome Sweet Gnome

Are you a gnome lover?  If so, this one's for you.  This was one of the projects at my recent Birthday Stamp-a-Stack Class.  It features the fun stamp set - Gnome Sweet Gnome that is found in the Occasions Mini Catalog.

He is stamped with Early Espresso Classic Ink and colored in using Stampin' Write Markers.  The fabulous Stamp-a-ma-Jig stamp positioner was used to to set the birthday cake image "just so" in his hands.

Labels Framelits Treat Tent

Are you looking for a quick and easy treat holder idea?  This little treat tent, created using the Labels Framelits Dies, would make a great place marker, party favor or stuffer for any gift basket.

Simply die-cut the largest Labels Framelits shape and then score equal distance from the center points.  I used our fabulous Simply Scored Tool and scored 1/2" (four grooves) from either side of the center of the label.

Once you have embellished the front of your tent, you simply fill a Small Cello Bag with the goodie of your choice.  I trimmed down the top of my cello bag so it didn't add a lot of extra bulk when it was folded down.  This cello bag was adhered into the tent using Mini Glue Dots. 

The stamp set is the beautiful Fresh Vintage stamp set available FREE for only a few more days as a part of Sale-a-Bration.  I will be so sorry to see this set go!!  *sniff*

So Grateful!

Yea!  Yesterday was the First Day of Spring and I am very grateful.  Now, in Washington state, that just means we only have a few more months of rain until we encounter sun on a regular basis.  But, it is a new season, none the less, and with it comes new growth and the promise of warmer weather.

I thought this card was bright and springy!  It is created with the Twitterpated Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini Catalog - LOVE IT!  Have I said that already?  A bit of Riding Hood Red Pleated Ribbon, a Paper Daisey and a Brights Button with Baker's Twine make up the embellishments!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

One this day 'o green - I thought I would share with you

the origin of St. Patrick's Day (courtesy of History.com):

St. Patrick's Day is celebrated on March 17, the saint's religious feast day and the anniversary of his death in the fifth century. The Irish have observed this day as a religious holiday for over 1,000 years. On St. Patrick's Day, which falls during the Christian season of Lent, Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. Lenten prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink and feast--on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.

Saint Patrick, who lived during the fifth century, is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain, he was kidnapped and brought to Ireland as a slave at the age of 16. He later escaped, but returned to Ireland and was credited with bringing Christianity to its people.  In the centuries following Patrick's death (believed to have been on March 17, 461), the mythology surrounding his life became ever more ingrained in the Irish culture: Perhaps the most well known legend is that he explained the Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) using the three leaves of a native Irish clover, the shamrock.   

 

In honor of St. Patrick and his ministry, I have this fun St. Patrick's Day card for you!  As a butterfly represents a new and changed life for a caterpillar, so does accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior mean a new and changed life for us!

 

I got the idea for this card over at The Pike Fam blog.  The clovers and butterfly are created from the smallest heart shape in the Heart to Heart punch.  Aren't they fun?!

Now, though this card has a clean and simple appearance, I don't think it qualifies for our weekly Keep It Simple Saturday (K.I.S.S.) project.  Those little hearts are a bit tedious to adhere and get "just right".  But, it was worth it!

This morning will be a breakfast of green pancakes in our house.  We do it every year.

Carrot Twist Box

Here is a different twist on a Twist Box (A.K.A. a Sour Cream Container) - make it a carrot!

Simply add a few 1/8" wide crimped strips of card stock to one end of the box before you adhere it closed as your leaves. A little bit of Calypso Coral Baker's Twine holds the tag.

Tuesday Tool Tip - Storing Your Stampin' Up! Framelits Dies

Are you loving the Labels Framelits Dies in the Occasions Mini Catalog?  I sure am!  Here is an alternative method for storing your Framelits Dies.

Using a Clear-Mount Stamp Case (which you can purchase in a 4 pack), adhere three cut strips of our Magnet Sheets to the back.  Your Framelits will be held in place securely and will remove easily when you are ready to use them.

Note - this is not my original idea but it was a great one and I wanted to share!!

Got Green? A St. Patrick's Day Card!

Got Green for the upcoming St. Patrick's Day?  You don't want to get pinched.  This card has lots of green for you, as it plays along with the Splitcoast Color Combo Challenge (CC364) - Garden Green, Lucky Limeade and River Rock. 

The layout comes from Splitcoast's Sketch Challenge (SC375):

The "Got Green" shamrock is Heat Embossed using a Garden Green Craft Ink Spot and Clear Stampin' Emboss Powder.

Now that I look at this card, wouldn't the "Got Green" focal piece make a great pin to wear on St. Patrick's Day?  Just adhere a pin back to the Scallop Circle.  You could attach it to the card front by punching two holes, feeding the pin back through the holes and clasping it.  Hmmm...I may just have to do this!!  What do you think??

A Flirtatious K.I.S.S.

How YOU Can Celebrate National Craft Month!

 

Yes, it's true - March is National Craft Month!!  This is the month to celebrate all things crafty.  Well, we can celebrate them all year but let's purpose to really celebrate this month.

How can you celebrate National Craft Month, you ask??  Here are a few ideas:

 

 - Set aside a time each week to do the craft you love -  We seem to put our hobbies aside for everything and everyone else.  This month - take time to do the craft you love!

 - Take a Class - sign up for a class to learn a new project or technique.  We all are more inspired when we learn something new.

 - Craft With Friends - schedule a day to craft with your family and friends.  Make it a potluck, stay in your PJ's add some chocolate and VIOLA - a craft party!!

 - Give a Hand-Crafted Gift - OK, so how many of you are creating fabulous projects but are not doing anything with them.  Choose to give away, one or more of those little beauties, this month.  Those who do not know how to do your craft will love the gift!!

 - Learn a New Craft - now, I'm not saying you have to jump into this new craft and add it to your others - you may already have enough.  But, try out a new craft to gain an appreciation for those who do it.
