Monday Makover - Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to you! 

Today is Monday Makeover Day and that means we are making over a non-Stampin' Up! item to Stampin' Up! style.  Want to see the inspiration?

 

Saw this cute little guy on Pinterest and knew he had to have a Stampin' Up! Makeover!  How did he turn out?

 

The moon is created by masking a 1 3/4" Circle Punch of a sticky note and then sponging over the top with Stamping Sponges and Classic Ink Pads.  The colors?  Start with Island Indigo then add Not Quite Navy further from the moon and then Night of Navy around the edges of the card stock. Remove the sticky note circle and VOILA - you have a full moon!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month - THANK YOU!

 

 

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I want to say THANK YOU!! 

Stampin' Up! announced this week that they are donating $60,000 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), "thanks to the hard work and generosity of our wonderful demonstrators and customers around the world during the Strength & Hope campaign. Thank you all for everything you do!"

What is Blemooch?

Blemooch is the name give to a technique that combines the bleaching technique with Stampin' Up!'s Smooch Spritz! This technique was demonstrated at a Stampin' Up! Regional Event.

On this card, Blemooch technique is done on the small, light colored leaf images on the Soft Suede card stock panel.

How To Blemooch?

1. Create an ink pad by folding up paper towel onto a glass or ceramic plate.
2. Saturate paper towel with bleach (cheap, off brand works best).
3. Spray saturated paper towel with Smooch Spritz of choice (This project used Log Cabin).
4. "Ink" up stamp image in paper towel "ink pad" and stamp on card stock.
5. Image will appear as bleach takes away the card stock pigment and it will now have an added shimmer with the Smooch!

Just a touch of shimmer adds a great effect to your project!

Tootsie Pop Stand Up Pumpkin

Check out this fun fall pumpkin treat that holds a Tootsie Pop sucker.  I like to call them Tootsie Pop Stand Up Pumpkins.  This would make a great party treat or place marker for your fall events.

How To Make A Tootsie Pop Stand Up Pumpkin:

1.  Using the Ovals Die for the Big Shot (largest oval) die-cut 6 ovals.

2.  Using 1 3/8" Circle Punch, punch a circle through the center of one oval.  Use this as a template (layer it over a non circle punched oval) to punch circles in the remaining 5 ovals. 

3.  Fold all six ovals in half and adhere, them together in a stack.  Be sure to line up the outside edges.

4.  Insert sucker into circle punched opening, trim sucker stick and wrap with a piece of card stock (1" x 1 1/4"). 

5.  Bring ovals around so the ends meet, encircling the sucker in the center, and adhere.

6.  Paper quill strips of card stock to resemble pumpkin vines and adhere.

Super cute and super easy!

I saw this idea on a blog but, now, cannot find it to give that person credit.  Let me know if it was you.

One of my clients mentioned that you could make mini pumpkins, possibly with our Extra Large Oval Punch and put Dum Dum suckers inside.  Hmm....may have to try that!

Starbucks Via Coffee Pocket

Check out this fun little pouch that holds a Starbucks Via coffee packet.  It is created using the Petite Pocket Bigz XL Die and the Morning Cup stamp set.  Now, this isn't my original idea but I cannot find the name of the person from whom I got the idea.  If it's you, let me know!

 

Of course, you need to coordinate your pocket with the colors on the coffee packet! 

Tip: To create a "tacky" resealable flap - add 2 Way Glue to the flap and allow to dry before sealing.

How Can You Not Smile?

How can you not smile with this happy plate of cookies smiling at you?! 

These yummy shortbread cookies were made using the recipe that comes with Stampin' Up!'s Sweet Pressed cookie stamps and the pumpkin face stamp.  The Sweet Pressed cookie stamps are so fun and easy to use and the great tips included in the kit guarantee great results!

My boys felt so special yesterday that these cookies were waiting for them!  The little extra touch of an imprint on a sugar or shortbread cookie speaks volumes.

Do You Need A Pal?

 

Powder Pals that is!  Today I wanted to share with you Stampin' Up!'s Powder Pals and their many uses.

First the technical details:

• Set includes 2 trays and a brush.
• Large tray size, 10" x 14" x 1"; small tray size 6" x 8" x 1"; both sizes have a 1/2" funnel opening.
• Include rubber plugs in funnels.

These "handy dandy" little trays make heat embossing and glitter use in your paper crafting so much easier - especially for multiple projects!

Simply pour in your product, slide your project underneath the glitter or embossing power to coat and shake/tap off excess. There is no need to clean up your work space from stray powder/glitter.

When you are done, remove the rubber plug from the funnel and return your powder/glitter to it's container - no mess!

Powder Pals Tips:

• Use the included brush clean out all angles of the Powder Pals.
• I would suggest to rinse out your Powder Pals when switching from one product to another.  You don't need stray pink glitter in your Clear Embossing Powder.

What other uses could you think of for the Powder Pals?  This weekend, I met a jewelry maker and she plans to use her Powder Pals to help sort her beads!

What about using it with sprinkles when you are baking?  Making sure you washed it thoroughly of course!  The large Powder Pal would give you room to decorate your goodies and keep your sprinkles from rolling all over your counters!

Fall Kindness K.I.S.S.

This week's Keep It Simple Saturday project features the beautiful stamp set, French Foliage, and the Splitcoast Color Combo Challenge CC343 (More Mustard, Soft Suede and Tangerine Tango).  We were supposed to use White or Vanilla as a neutral offset, but Crumb Cake is in our Neutrals family so I say it counts!  ;o)

The greeting is stamped with Soft Suede ink on Soft Suede card stock, wrapped with a bit of Linen Thread and "popped" with Stampin' Dimensionals.

The greeting "You raise kindness to an art" is a wonderful sentiment.  Aren't you blessed by those people in your life that just go out of their way to help and serve?  I know I am blessed by great friends like this.

It's All In The Details

Today, I would like to share with you a card created by a dear friend, Barbara Lowe.  Barbara is an amazing woman of God that I am honored to call my friend.  She is also has a gift for quilting and paper crafting. 

 

Isn't that so pretty?!  Just love all the little details.

 

The points are so exact and I love the stitching!

 

Then Barbara added this little embellishment on the inside of the card.  So sweet!  This card shows how to make beautiful use of your card stock and Designer Series Paper scraps.

Barbara purchased her card stock and Designer Series Papers at my last Retired Product Sale and has been putting them to good use!

Do You Have a Sweet Tooth?

 

I know I sure do and my friend, Cari Cantrell (the Sweet Tooth), has one too!  Today is Cari's birthday and she posted this awesome photo on her blog -

Love the colors, love the clean look, LOVE THE CAKE AND SPRINKLES!!

It inspired me to create this card -

 

The colors are Pool Party, Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White.  The cupcake image, from Crazy For Cupcakes, is stamped in Jet Black StazOn Ink and watercolored using Blender Pens and Classic Ink Pads.

 

A bit of Crystal Effects was added over the top of each sprinkle to give a bit of texture and shine.
