July is bikini month and today is the 65th anniversary of the bikini!! The bikini was introduced at a fashion show on July 5, 1946, in Paris, where Louis Reard and Jacques Heim, its designers, introduced the revealing suit to the world of fashion.
I thought it would be fun to celebrate this fun event with a card!
Check out those stylin' owls in their polka dot bikinis!! Now I cannot take credit for the idea of putting bikinis on little owls. That honor goes to Ryder - the 5 year old son of my friend Angie. Angie was creating owls and when she punched circles of Designer Series Paper, Ryder rearranged them so they looked like a bikini top. He he! Thanks Ryder!
The blues on this card are two of the NEW In Colors for 2011-2013 - Island Indigo and Pool Party. Perfect bikini colors. But the actual bikinis are made from the Brights Patterns Designer Series Papers - Tangerine Tango and Daffodil Delight. The pattern on the card stock was made using the NEW Large Fancy Fan Letterpress Plate for the big shot. Woo Hoo - new Letterpress!!
This is how to create the rounded end on the greeting strip.
- Cut a strip of 3/8" wide card stock
- Slide one end through the Word Window Punch
- Punch and round your end.
The layout of the card comes from the Card Sketch over at SCS (SC339).
