Isn't that the prettiest KFC chicken bucket you have ever seen? I thought so! In support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, KFC changed their bucket to pink and is covered with names of people who have fought breast cancer.
Susan G. Komen for the Cure is the largest breast cancer charity in the world. Susan G. Koman was born October 31, 1943 and was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 33. She died 3 years later. Susan's younger sister, Nancy Goodman Brinker, founded the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation in Komen's memory in 1982. Today, the Komen organization is recognized as the leading catalyst in the fight against breast cancer, with more than 100,000 volunteers working in a network of 125 U.S. and international affiliates.
I have had friends and customers who have battled this disease and very much appreciate all that this organization does. You can find out about this organization HERE.
So, as you may know about me, I find inspiration for my projects everywhere. You can too! Where do I look:
- Clothing and Fashion Accessories - Just ask my friends - I'm always taking photos of their tops and purses.
- Home Decor - Check out catalogs and websites for great color and texture inspiration.
- Greeting Card Aisle - No, I don't actually purchase a store card but I will use some of the layouts I see there.
- Advertisements - Look at the labels of the products in your cupboards and in the stores. Some of them make great project layouts. I have a photo of a poster from my bank on my phone. It has a great layout!
- Anywhere - Just look! If you love an item for it's color or appearance, can it be made into a paper-crafting project?
I have to admit. I was at the dentist yesterday and I went back into the bathroom to take a photo of the print on the wall. The layout and colors were great and I thought it would make a good card. I gave the gals at the front desk a good laugh too! I did tell them what I was doing so they didn't think I was a total WACKO!
OK, back to the bucket. The minute the gal at the drive-thru window gave me the bucket, I knew that I would be making a card inspired by it's color and design.
Here is my take:
I didn't have a Colonel Sanders stamp image so two layered Pretties Kit flowers and a Clear Rhinestone Brad had to take his place. ;o)
I recreated the banded look of the bucket with layers of card stock. I used my Circle Scissors Plus to make the circles. I really need to do more circles on my projects - love them.
The greeting, from the Fresh Cuts stamp set, is heat embossed with Whisper White Craft Ink and Clear Embossing Powder.
I used our Friend Texture Plate for the Big Shot to duplicate the names on the main card base.
When I got done, there seemed to be something missing but I really didn't want to embellish the card any more. So I gave it a SMOOCH! Yes, I spritzed the entire card with our new Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz. Perfect! A little something extra without taking away from the simplicity of the card.
